In recent educational data, Latvia has shown remarkable progress in improving the quality of teacher education and professional development — a clear signal that the country’s education system is moving toward stronger international standards.
According to the latest survey, more than 80% of new teachers in Latvia feel that their preparation for the classroom was of high quality. They believe that their training gave them solid knowledge in subject content, modern teaching methods, and the use of digital tools in education. This improvement reflects Latvia’s continuous effort to raise the standards of teaching and learning.
In addition, almost eight out of ten new teachers say they have participated in school induction or mentoring programs during their first years of work. Such programs are now seen as key to building confidence and creating a supportive professional culture in schools.
Collaboration among teachers is also increasing. Over 90% of teachers report that they can rely on their colleagues for advice and help. This strong sense of teamwork is helping schools in Latvia become more adaptable, inclusive, and ready to embrace new technologies.
Better teacher preparation means better education outcomes. Students benefit from lessons that are more interactive, creative, and aligned with global trends. Schools, in turn, become more resilient and innovative.
Latvia’s education sector is now viewed as a model of steady progress in Europe. With continued investment in teacher training, digital skills, and mentoring, the country is positioning itself as a leader in modern education reform.
